GEOTERRA360 has successfully completed the ESA Business Incubation (ESA BIC) journey. We are proud to reflect on how far this bold venture has come, and even more excited about what lies ahead. Born out of the vision to integrate multiple components of Earth Observation into everyday intelligence for the water landscape, GT360’s flagship product WaterSphere360®, developed with our hydrology partner EkoSource Insight, is now ready to move from the lab into the real world.
A Journey of Growth and Innovation
The ESA BIC Portugal programme has played a pivotal role in the development of GEOTERRA360 as a startup. From allowing us to refine our technical foundation to shaping our market entry strategy, the incubation experience has been instrumental in improving our business model and preparing us for scale.
WaterSphere360® was conceptualised as a tool to transform the way we monitor and manage water landscapes and drought conditions. Through the incubation programme, we’ve been able to test this idea, receive expert mentoring, and explore commercialisation pathways in a supportive, innovation-driven environment.
WaterSphere360: From Concept to Real-Life Deployment
WaterSphere360® uses advanced satellite-derived analytics to deliver timely, actionable insights into surface water dynamics, precipitation patterns, drought risks, and in essence, water security trends. It’s a powerful platform built for water resource managers, catchment authorities, agricultural stakeholders, conservation teams, and anyone who depends on reliable water availability intelligence.
With the core system now built and refined, WaterSphere360® is officially ready to be tested in real-life scenarios. We are pleased to announce that EDIA (Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-estruturas do Alqueva, S.A), a public company that manages the Alqueva Multipurpose Project, will start testing and verifying the intelligence available through the online platform. We are expectant about the results and will soon be able to showcase how WaterSphere360® can inform better water stewardship and resilience strategies in the face of climate variability. More on this in the near future.
Looking Ahead: Ready to Scale
Graduating from ESA BIC has given us a launchpad for WaterSphere360® and other geospatial intelligence products we are working on. With a strong technical base, a validated use case, and a growing network of collaborators, GEOTERRA360 is now primed to expand across the European market and beyond. We’re actively seeking more pilot opportunities, demonstration projects, and partnerships that will help bring the value of satellite-powered intelligence to more stakeholders.
We have acquired the EU licence for GEOFARMER, which is an operational crop monitoring platform with a very user-friendly interface, that aids in crop growth trend analyses for a variety of Agri-industry applications.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the ESA BIC Portugal team based at IPN, the incubation team at PACT, and the wider business ecosystem that has supported us so far. The incubation journey has been a period of deep learning and growth, and we carry those lessons forward as we enter this exciting next phase.
